Czarna Woda – easy section (Kłanino – Ostrowo)

Section length: 13 km

The Czarna Woda (Czarna Wda) River kayaking route from Kłanino to Ostrowo is classified as easy. It is a little-known seaside river which is rarely visited by kayakers. There are no obstacles in the stream, apart from the portages in Czarny Młyn and sometimes near a small bridge in Jastrzębia Góra. The river flows through the Northern Kashubia, near Jastrzębia Góra, mainly through a boggy ice-marginal valley which cuts through the seaside upland. The Czarna Wda is perfect for beginner kayakers or families with children. Long straight sections are a typical feature of this route. The fact that in the summer it overgrows and in the section before Czarny Młyn the water level may be quite low is its drawback. This is worth checking. It is recommended to begin your trip past the Kłanino village at the 213 voivodeship road. The initial section of the river is narrow and it may overgrow. Before Czarny Młyn, the river resembles a wide regulated canal. On the way, you paddle under local bridges. In Czarny Młyn, there is a water gate. A portage is necessary. You keep paddling along a wider and wider canal. In Tupadły, you paddle under a small bridge and then across meadows and past few buildings. Further in the distance, there is a forest. You reach Jastrzębia Góra and depending on the water level you either paddle under a low bridge or you portage the kayaks along the left bank. On the right, there is a kayak marina. Further on, you paddle for about 600 m and the river takes a noticeable turn to the west. The route runs through an inter-embankment zone. From the north, it is surrounded by a forest and from the south by developments, mainly of summer resorts. This section may be overgrown in the summer. After 3.3 km, you reach the marina in Ostrów. Now, only after 300 m further, the kayaking trip may be finished directly on the beach, just as the one along the Piaśnica. The Czarna Wda flows into the Baltic Sea there.
