It’s best to start kayaking across the Great Canal of Brda in Konigort -below the portage and trout farm in Mylof, and end it in Fojutowo by the aqueduct. Then the distance will be 13 km. The sole history of the canal is interesting, as it was constructed in the 19th century by Prussian authorities in order to irrigate the dry areas of the Tuchola Forest. The trail is very easy and its biggest attractions consist in unusual hydrotechnical monuments. Here it is possible to see the oldest water dam in Poland, constructed in 1848 towering the water of Brda at 12 m, and the neighboring largest trout farm in our country. The aqueduct in Fojutowo from 1849 is also unique as it carries the water from the Brda Canal to Czeska Struga. A large tourist complex and an observation tower have been erected near the aqueduct. The surroundings have been heavily damaged in the course of the storm from August 2017. The beautiful pinewood forests near Rytel have been almost completely destroyed and it will take many more years before they are repaired and ordered.
