Studnica – difficult route (Miastko – Kawka)

Section length: 35 km (+2 km to Kawka, Wieprza)

The route is recommended for experienced kayakers, and not suitable for those beginning their adventure with kayaking, nor for families with children. This wild rushing river with numerous obstacles in the current will provide a great dose of adrenaline. The route is very difficult and strenuous. Moreover, the river features a steep drop, fast current, rocky rapids and many fallen trees. It has the nature of a lowland mountain river. You can start kayaking in Miastko at Fabryczna Street and finish in Kawka (Wieprza – Kawka, 37 km). Paddling from Miastko, after about a kilometre you come across the remains of an old mill. A portage is needed here. You pass an old railway embankment. Rapids. After a stretch of meadows, the river enters a forest – numerous fallen trees. A few kilometres further, you get to meadows and the number of obstacles decreases. The route reaches a small bridge, downstream of which there is a regulated river stretch with ruins of a gate. Another portage. Further on, you come into a forest; rapids on the way. Again, numerous fallen trees. You reach Kawczyn-Młyn – with a portage around the hydroelectric power station. The route to Węgorzyno goes through meadows, sometimes a forest, with fallen trees in places. Then, you go past a collapsed bridge and reach a portage. A short (about 2 km), but quite difficult, gorge surrounded by beech forest begins. Stones, a steep drop, sunken logs. You arrive in Ciecholubie. There is a portage on the right bank around the hydroelectric power station. Then, you paddle about 2 km to Kawka; on the way, the Studnica flows into the Wieprza. The river becomes lazier and much wider, and the number of obstacles drops considerably.
