Wieprza – moderately difficult section (Glewnik – Lake Obłęskie)

The moderately difficult section of the Wieprza River starts at Glewnik and runs to Lake Obłęskie.

The first kilometres cover the Pokrzywna River. Initially, the river crosses areas surrounded by meadows, but after passing the village of Bąkowo, it enters a forest area. Watch out for downed trees in the current. Before Broczyna, you join the Wieprza route. The confluence of the rivers looks as if the Pokrzywna is the main current and the Wieprza flows into it. From this point onwards, the current clearly gains speed. The river bends to the left and flows between high forested banks. Again, there are natural obstacles to overcome such as fallen trees and rocky rapids. On this stretch, the river cuts into numerous inaccessible gorges. Owing to the rapid current and numerous rapids, the Wieprza River resembles a submontane river. Near the village of Kawki, you pass the mouth of the Studnica River. Further on, there are three hydroelectric power stations, including the historic one in Biesowice, and then you reach Kępice. After passing the town, there is a possibility of reaching Lake Obłęskie (1 km), where a water tourism centre is being built.
