Planning the trip
The key element of preparing for a canoe trip is to plan an appropriate route. It is not a good idea to start with the most difficult river, especially when we plan to take children on our trip.
A canoe and oars are of course crucial and are usually provided by the trip organizer. But you absolutely have to remember about a buoyancy aid or life-jacket (the second for those who can’t swim). It is not for putting it on a seat, but for wearing it – it significantly increases your safety.
The crucial thing is to adjust your clothes to the season and various weather conditions. A cap or hat, fleece sweatshirt, waterproof jacket and trousers of quick-drying material will definitely com in useful. Even in a hot, boiling day the weather can turn cold and rain can come down.
