Kłonecznica – hard section (Studnica – Laska)

Kłonecznica – hard section (Studnica – Laska)

Section length: 26 km

It is best to start you boating trip in Studzienica and finish in the village of Laska. Kayakers will encounter two portages on their way. The Kłonecznica River route is difficult and onerous due to many obstacles in the current and shallows. It is suitable for experienced kayakers. You start your boating trip on Lake Studzieniczno, at the public beach. The route goes south-west along ribbon lakes with banks several metres high in places, passing Lake Kłączno and Lake Ryńskie, where a small portage is found. The lazy river takes you through meadows and a swampy forest. Then, the route reaches Lake Małe and a moment later the village of Hamer Młyn with a portage around the sawmill. Making your way through the riverbed with fallen trees and branches, you reach Lake Kielskie. You paddle straight ahead across the lake, watching its right shore to find the river outflow in rushes. Further on, you continue in a forested valley, overcoming some narrow places where makeshift weirs (piles) have been built. The river’s nature slowly changes: you enter agricultural areas and reach the bridge at the village of Sztoltmany. Then, the river gets fairly narrow, its current is swift in places; the route meanders along this section. In Kłonecznica, you pass under another small bridge on the local road between Zapceń and Kruszyno, and then you enter a forest. Close to the village of Budy, you reach a weir at the trout farm where the river forks. You may finish your trip at the farm (the place is accessible from the bridge in Laska). Paddling straight ahead, you reach the facility fence where you have to portage along a footpath across bushes on the right-hand side. Alternatively, you can portage you kayak to the right after the gate and continue kayaking right down the steep natural riverbed. It is necessary to tow you kayak for about 800 metres over rocky shallows and fallen trees. You go past a small bridge and on the left there is a water outlet from the fish ponds. The water level increases and you go over fallen trees. The route reaches Lake Książę where there is a shallow at the river mouth. You can finish your trip at the lake shore in the village of Leśnictwo Laska (you have to turn right 600 m after the mouth).
